Ni-TiO2 nano composite coating developed on the EN 8 steel material immersed in Watt`s bath through pulse plating process at various plating parameters such as pulse frequency, duty cycle and current density were studied for its mechanical behavior, i.e. micro hardness, surface roughness and coating thickness. The experiment process were carried out for different combinations of pulse parameters by using response surface methodology, about 20 experiments were conducted to find the maximum hardness that can be achieved. The test results clearly confirm that the pulse frequency of 30 Hz, duty cycle 30% and current density 0.6 A/dm2, can produce higher hardness value. The specimen of maximum hardness is further tested for its surface roughness and coating thickness also the surface morphology have been studied to investigate the influence of chemical compound.
