Abstract

Elastomers are amorphous polymers that have the elastic properties of rubber. The lower stiffness of elastomers limits their applications in various engineering fields. This can be overcome by blending the elastomers or by developing the elastomeric composites using different reinforcements. Chemical, physical, and manufacturing advantages are among the possible enhancements in the elastomers blends and composites. These improvements are due to intrinsic differences in the constituents and reinforcement behaviors. This chapter aims to discuss the static (tensile, flexural, impact, and hardness) and dynamic mechanical (storage modulus, loss modulus, and damping factor) properties of various elastomer blends and their composites. Additionally, the potential applications of the elastomer blends and their composites are presented.
