Abstract

In this paper, frequency and quadrature amplitude modulation (FQAM) is used in frequency hopped spread spectrum systems. FHSS is used in the military applications. FQAM modulation is a modulation technique that extends upon FSK and QAM modulation. The bit error rate is estimated for the frequency hopped spread spectrum systems (FHSS) with and without using the forward error correction code. The bit error rate of FHSS system using convolutional coding is estimated. The bit error rate can be reduced by using Turbo codes and the comparison for the same is made for both convolutional codes and turbo codes.
